Sonic needs to stop Robotnik/Eggman and rescue his friends.                                                                                           Gameplay    The gameplay is really fun most of the time. Even though it is completely different from the Genesis version so much so that it is basically a completely new game besides a few levels that are the same as its Genesis counterpart. Instead of doing some trippy, psychedelic, headache inducing special stages to collect emeralds. You find them in  various zones of the game.
