It saw massive success in Japan, which lead to the idea of releasing the system internationally. Nintendo wanted to work with the company Atari to release it in other countires . Those plans fell through due to Coleco developing a computer version of Donkey Kong for the Coleco ADAM, the Video Game Crash Of 1983, and Atari's upcoming 7800.
